MARIA MERCÈ MARÇAL
2011
MMM is a trilogy and my contribution to the collective film Ferida Arrel, inspired by the work of Catalan poet Maria Merce Marçal (1952-89).
In the course of these three fragments inspired by the poet's work, a bond is drawn: the relationships between mothers and daughters, between words and the sound of their echoes.
BARCELDONA
Marçal speaks of us women as my mother did with me and as I do now with younger women. She speaks of Barcelona with the same affection and same rage that I recognise in me. She speaks distilling echoes. Heura, her daughter, dances on the roof of a house. It could be me, and it could be my house.
EL MEU AMOR SENSE CASA
The phonetic of a word communicates as much as its meaning, and can be translated to an image.
L’IMPOSTORA
A daughter and a mother - strange sisterhood - contemplate each other trapped in a game of mirrors. We are weavers of intimacies and creators of our own death.
